The shooting head is very heavily weighted to make it easy to shoot line a long distance
The main disadvantage is that lure vibration, bites and that all-important feel will be slightly lacking, and any movement created by the angler (twitches etc) will take a split second longer to transmit through the rod to your lure
Additionally, the Digi Gear II system and the quick drag medium (QDM) system, despite sounding fancy, really do make a difference on the bank by providing smooth operation and the ability to make quick adjustments where needed
